The Elizabeth Fry Society of Northeastern Ontario – Safe Harbor House plays a vital role in the continuum of housing and homelessness services. The shelter is a city-funded temporary overnight emergency shelter for homeless women and gender diverse people aged 19 and up. The principles of the shelter align with Housing First approach and focus on supporting individuals to meet their housing goals. The shelter operates from a harm reduction perspective creating greater accessibility for more people to sleep in a warm and safe environment.
Programs and services offered at the Elizabeth Fry Society will also be offered to those who are staying at the shelter.
The shelter has 10 beds as well as access to showers, laundry and light meals.
