About Us
The Elizabeth Fry Society of Northeastern Ontario is dedicated to confronting the effects of criminalization and incarceration and in particular the circumstances of women and gender diverse people in the criminal justice system. We center the voices and leadership of marginalized communities, including those with lived experience of incarceration, criminalization, homelessness, BIPOC, LGBTQIA+ individuals, disabled people, and those at the intersections of multiple oppressions. Our work spans advocacy, education, and direct services with a vision of creating strong, well resourced communities for everyone.
Position Summary
We are seeking a dynamic, values-driven Executive Director (ED) to lead our organization into its next chapter. The ED is responsible for the overall strategic, operational, and financial health of the organization. This includes overseeing staff, fostering relationships with funders and community partners, ensuring programmatic excellence, and championing the organization’s feminist values internally and externally.
Responsibilities
Leadership & Vision
- Lead the development and execution of a bold, inclusive strategic plan
- Promote a feminist, anti-racist organizational culture of care, equity, and accountability
- Represent the organization in public, in the media, and with stakeholders
- Lead the organization in advocating for systemic change
- Lead the organization’s commitment to Truth and Reconciliation by engaging with Indigenous communities and upholding culturally safe and inclusive practices
Fundraising & Financial Management
- Lead fundraising efforts, including major gifts, grants, and grassroots donations
- Develop and oversee annual budgets, ensuring financial sustainability and transparency
Program Oversight
- Ensure programmatic integrity, alignment with mission, and measurable impact
- Support program leads in maintaining effective, trauma-informed, and client-centered practices
Staff & Operations
- Recruit, support, and manage a diverse, high-performing team
- Maintain compliance with all relevant laws and regulations
- Promote professional development and wellbeing of staff
Qualifications
- Proven leadership experience in the non-profit sector, ideally with a feminist or social justice organization
- Deep commitment to intersectional feminism, anti-oppression values, and community accountability
- Strong fundraising, strategic planning, and financial management skills
- Exceptional communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
- Lived experience and/or demonstrated allyship with the communities we serve is highly valued
