IMPACT STORIES
September gained her independence and improved her self-esteem
“This is the first time in my life I have truly felt independent and in control of my own life. It is the first time I have lived on my own and it is a wonderful, wonderful feeling. I strongly believe everything happens for a reason and if I had to do it again, I don’t think I would change a thing!”
A woman was determined to start over and create a healthy, happy life for herself.
“I felt like things were spiralling downhill quickly, like I had disappointed my family, and worst of all, myself. With the help from the Elizabeth Fry bail program I was able to feel like I wasn’t alone. I gradually stopped blaming other people, as well as my past experiences over the years and begin to make myself accountable for my actions. It turned out to be very empowering.”
Any woman is welcomed through the doors.
“I feel the E-Fry Society makes women feel comfort and a place to turn when feeling frustrated. It gives women a place to turn for help and references. Definitely very resourceful and helpful agency.”
Erica was able to recognize her self worth.
“The entire staff has helped me tremendously, not only with my recovery but with housing, transportation, medical issues, food vouchers and ongoing counselling. Most of all helping me realize I am worth something and that I do deserve a second chance… I hope i may apply what I have learned and help someone else the way all of you wonderful ladies have helped me.”
Erica received kindness and support in her recovery
“I am someone’s daughter, I am a mother, I am curious and can be unhealthy at times. I am a recovering addict; I am sensitive and funny, creative and unique, but most of all I am human and am learning to be brave in my beautiful mistakes.”
